How it started
I built UtilityWatch as a community project. Like many folks seeing water bills for the first time, I wondered if I was using too much water or if it was just really expensive. That sent me down more than a few rabbitholes.
After all that research I thought there has to be a better way. I hope this website is exactly that.
As kiwis struggle with the cost of living crisis and the impacts of climate change, understanding water bills is more important than ever.
What is the goal?
My goal is to build a central hub for Aucklanders to compare and analyse water bills, by aggregating anonymised data, public resources and automating analysis.
Comparing water bills should be simple and easy.
